ELECTION DAY

Welcome to you fantastic new UNIA community members! Thank you for joining to create an actual and harmoniously productive community organization.

Election season is upon us and we at UNIA encourage you to become informed voters. Please help make some important decisions for yourself and our community by voting this Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

What’s on the ballot? The following municipal offices and one ballot question are on the ballot:

  • Mayor
  • Council Members – 13 Wards
  • Board of Estimate and Taxation – 2 At-Large Members
  • Park and Recreation Board – 3 At-Large and 6 District Commissioners
  • CHARTER AMENDMENT #168 – Proposal to change the composition of the
    Board of Estimate and Taxation
    Should the City of Minneapolis adopt a change in its charter to the composition of the Board of Estimate and Taxation so that the Board's membership consists of the members of the City Council, with the actions of the Board subject to the powers and duties of the Mayor?

Election Day

If you live East of 35W your polling location is University Lutheran Church of Hope, 601 13th Avenue SE (near University Technology Center).

If you live West of 35W your polling location is First Congregational Church, 500 8th Avenue SE.

To vote on Election Day you will need to bring to the polls:

1) a U of M student ID or drivers license, AND...

2) a current utility bill, cell phone bill or cable bill showing your current address... dated between now and October 4th (sorry a lease does not work, it must be a current utility bill).
